GEORGI NELEPP (1904 - 1957)

Was the great dramatic tenor of the mid Soviet
period. A singer of immense popularity though
evidently a bit unstable. The statue pictures him
as SADKO, one of his greatest roles (recorded>
& was manufactured by the Dimitrov Porcelain
Factory of the Moscow region c. 1950's.

a wild & Strikingly exotic depiction of the
tenor as SADKO (live photo in the same pose
can be seen in the SADKO Bolshoi souvenir
program book). Manufactured by the Dimitrov
Porcelain Factory of the Moscow region c. 1950's.
This is a tuly fantastic, colorful example.

SOBINOFF, LEONID (1832 - 1934)

Legendary Golden Age Imperial tenor star depicted
as Romeo (ROMEO & JULIETTE) in a porcelain statue
12" high, by S. Sudbinin for the Lomonosov Porcelain
Factory, St. Petersburg, c. 1950. This has been
published in the catalogue of Soviet porcelain
Cooper Hewett National Museum of Design, 1992.
Stunning example showing and impetuous Romeo.
