opera and was accused of having too much influence- so off to Brazil where she took up with emperor Dom Pedro II and made a
bundle, after 10 years back to Paris and 3 royal marriages

she enjoyed great success here and abroad especiually as a Wagnerian. After her retirement she opned a deluxe laundry in

that embraced most of the main operatic centers, touring companies, much operetta including creating Victor Herbert's The
Fortune Teller in New York 1898, character parts on Broadway and films in Hollywood where she lived for many years
