ALSEN, Elsa- SPc photo as Brunhilde. Alsen started as a mezzo in 1902 & switched to hoch dramatic fach. She came
to the USA with the legendary German Opera Company as Venus & Brunhilde and remained in the USA where she sang under
Toscanini and with most of the American opera companies except the Met. As a golden haired elderly lady she was a
charming and vibrant presence at the Vocal Record Collectors Society meetings. She died in New York at 95 in 1975.
