60. AHLGRIMM, Isolde- a nice small photo dedicated & signed verso of the Viennese harpsichordist one of the most important pioneers in the revival of interest in the use of Baroque and Classical keyboard instruments an interest sparked by her marriage in 1938 to Dr.Erich Fiala the musical instrument collector & conductor who she divorced in 1956. Her performing career as a harpsichordist took off & in the early 1950s she recorded all of Bach's harpsichord works both solo & with the Amati Orchestra under Baumgartner for Phillips. She was a great influence on both Leonhardt & Harnoncourt who followed her both as performers and collectors. A friend of Richard Strauss she performed the harpsichord in his opera CAPRICCIO. He wrote a CAPRICCIO SUITE for her. Ahlgrimm's approach was said to be much more rigidly 18th century than Landowska's more 20th century approach. She toured the USA and Japan extensively and taught for many years in Vienna and Salzburg.
