He won the Liszt prize in 1940, debuted with the Berlin Philharmonic under Furtwangler in 1941 and settled in Switzerland in 1943 where he succeeded Edwin Fischer at the Lucerne master classes. He pursued an important international career as recitalist, soloist with orchestra and recording artist being especially noted for his Schumann and Bartok and later for his Mozart being the first to record the complete concerti conducted by him from the keyboard.

Born in Frankfurt to a diplomatic family Francois was a prodigy and was studying with Mascagni at age 6!Later on he studied at various times with Cortot, Long and Boulanger. Chopin, Debussy, Ravel and Schumann were central to his repertory and he has left many rec- ordings. He was a big jazz fan and always claimed that jazz influenced his playing. He led an extravagant life-night life, drugs, drink and he had a heart attack while playing in 1968 dying in 1970 at age 46. His son with Josette Bahvsar Maximilien wrote a biography of his father published in 2002. SCARCE.

She made her way to Rio de Janeiro with great difficulty and despite poor health and through the prompting of Artur Rubinstein resumed her career with a Carnegie Hall recital in 1946. After starting his career in Brasil he came to the US to study with Feuremann who died shortly before is arrival (however he based his style on Feurmann's playing). He got a degree at Yale where he later taught at length while making a brilliant American career debut at age 26 with the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood in 1946. Besides playing the standard cello repertory Parisot premiered works by many contemporary composers such as Villa-Lobos, Guarnieri, Porter, Santoro etc many written for him such as Villa Lobos's 2nd Cello Concerto which Parisot played at his New York Philharmonic debut. He has appeared with all the major orchestras and conductors.
