152. ROSENTHAL, Manuel- SP 4 x 6" photo of the incomparable French conductor/composer on the podium at Salzburg rehearsing 1959. This was 8 years after his scandalous season in Seattle where he was dismissed for moral turpitude!!. It would never have happened in France!!!!. Rosenthal wrote ballet, operette, choral and chamber music but is best remembered for his brilliantly entertaining arrangement of Offenbach music for the ballet "Gaite Parisienne" premiered in Monte Carlo 1938 which has remained a box office favorite. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1981 at age 77 conducting a triple bill of operas by Satie, Ravel and Poulenc (the name of his memoir too) and returned for "Les Dialogues des Carmelites." Rosenthal signed photos are extremely elusive.
