DOBROWEN, Issay- SPc portrait of the dapper Russian maestro d/s in Russian 1933. He led the Bolshoi after the
revolution, was active in Germany during the 1920s, the US during the 30s and 40s before settling in Scandinavia. He
was an eclectic and very highly regarded conductor

ballet, Pavlova and Loie Fuller and appeared during the 20s with the French orchestras before settling in America

the Tangelwood Festival. A great champion of young American talent both composing (Copland, Piston, Barber,
Schuman, Harris and performing (Bernstein etc) He just followed what he had previously done in Russia and France
where he had a music publishing house Editions Russe de Musique that sponsored works by Scriabin Stravinsky,
Prokofiev and Rachmaninov. He started as a double bass soloist and was unique even playing Saint Saens First cello
concerto on that instrument. RATHER SCARCE
LEVI, Hermann- Friedrich Muller unsigned C d V photo of the conductor who led Bayreuth's first Parsifal in
1882 and continued to do so till 1894. He conducted at Wagner's funeral
